Having faith in fate

We all know God works in the most mysterious ways. And many of us believe that He creates that special someone for everyone out there – a soul mate. And somehow God will bring these two souls to find each other. That’s how destiny and fate works, right? Could it be that God would create two people as polar opposites so that they would fit together perfectly – like two halves of a broken heart? That they’d have personalities so different that each would be the strengths to the other’s weaknesses allowing their characteristics to complement each other perfectly so that to have the best, they would need each other? This is the story of Rusheel and Kirthavya…

Lectures from my Nani...

Having lost my biological Nani (maternal grandmother) at a young age, there was a void in my life that was very hard to fill. At that point in time, I probably was "robbed" of a key element of my life in the value and guidance that grandparents can bring. But, I am one of the lucky few. Through the bond I formed with my best friend Rish and his family, his grandmom soon became my grandmother - in the way I saw her and in the way she saw me. Since then I have never felt that I lost my Nani, but that in my life I had two!

Am I ready for this?

Ever have a discussion about marriage and the person then describes how they dream their perfect wedding to be? Happens quite often hey? Navasha’s wedding to Theo this past weekend got me thinking about marriage and what it really means to us. Vash (Navasha) mentioned to me that she always thought she would get married much later in life, or maybe not at all as at the time she had not found the right person and, was a bit afraid of commitment.   She wanted the decision to be the right one. I think I understand Vash…

Facebook makes it real!

Years ago, when my mom would tell us about some event or happening that she had heard of, my brother and I would often tease her that the story must be true if it were mentioned on "Lotus" (Lotus FM - an Indian radio station in SA). These days the "logic" that everyone seems to apply is: "It's only real if it's on Facebook!" A few weeks ago, I had a similar conversation with a fellow Twitter user, who explained that a friend was concerned that her boyfriend had not changed his relationship status on Facebook to show that they were in a relationship. This led to her friend questioning why her boyfriend would "hide" such a thing if he really is committed to her and her relationship is real.

The responsibility of up-to-date information

As someone who often searches online for contact details of stores, companies, products, etc, one of the greatest annoyances I have has to be websites that are not updated once the respective details have changed. After recently hearing about Skinjam and their ability to wrap cellphones with cool logos I set out to find the nearest store to me. Their website indicated that would be Rosebank Mall ("Coming Soon"). That day being a public holiday, it seemed pointless to call the head office number to verify location, but a friend did say that they remember seeing the store there.

The start of the journey...

A new year, a new beginning, a new journey - that's how we should see it, right? Right. And with that all of the above, new experiences. That's what this year should bring. After toying with the idea and the mystery, and it being suggested to me that I should start a blog, I have given in to the temptation and created one. Let's call it an experiment - I get to understand the outlet that is blogging and you get to read and hopefully understand the many, sometimes random sometimes not, thoughts that go through my mind. Deal? Cool, let's go! Rosh
